My top 5 delicious and healthy rugby supporter snack ideas

healthy rugby watching snacks

The 2015 Rugby World Cup kicks off this weekend and runs through to 31 October.  Many of us will be entertaining and snacking whilst rooting for our boys over the coming weeks.

With the tournament taking place is England this year and just an hour time difference (2 hours from 25 October when daylight saving ends) we will be watching the games in SA in the afternoons and evenings.  Very different story from 2011 in New Zealand where we enjoyed brunch as we watched the games.

Why not mix up the usual fatty, salty fare of chips and dry wors with one of my top 5 delicious and healthy rugby supporter snack ideas:

  • Wholegrain crackers, seed crackers and/ or veggie snack platter (e.g. celery sticks, asparagus spears, snap peas, baby carrots, cucumber sticks, baby tomatoes) with guacamole, cottage cheese, salsa butter bean dip, baba ghanoush or hummus
  • Roasted nuts – try these savoury & spicy roasted almonds
  • Lean or game biltong
  • Roasted, spicy chickpeas
  • Marinated olives

If you’re hosting a braai, pop across to my Tips for a healthy braai post for my top tips for healthy braais.

Go Bokke!
