My answer to many questions is actually menu planning. From eating healthier to saving money and time, a menu plan helps keep me on track, stay organised, reduce wastage and minimise shopping trips.
Over the years I’ve chopped and changed between many ways of planning: printable menu planners, scraps of paper stuck to the fridge, notes saved on my phone… I currently use evernote (I am actually a bit obsessed with evernote, use it for everything!) to make my menu plan. I also keep tabs of what is in the freezer (helpful to guide menu planning) and make my shopping list on evernote – best thing about it is I can access it on my phone, ipad and computer.
Laura from I’m an Organizing Junkie shares her weekly menu plan every Monday along with a linkshare at the end so others can also share what’s on their menus for the week, pop along to see her plan for this week here. It’s a wonderful opportunity to keep your menu planning efforts on track week after week, as well as get some great ideas and recipes that come from reading the menus of the many other participants. I’m joining in today with my menu plan for this week below. I hope this inspires you or gives you some good ideas for your week.
My weekly menu plan is for dinners through the week, this is the meal where the wheels are most likely to come off if I’m busy/rushed/tired and where having a plan is most helpful for us.
Monday: veggie fried rice, recipe from a couple cooks
Tuesday: chicken kebabs with coleslow and beetroot
Wednesday: leftovers
Thursday: unstuffed cabbage rolls, recipe from Chocolate Slopes
Friday: burger friday – chicken breasts in Nando’s sauce served with a bun and salad
Are you a planner? Have any favourite menu planning tips or resources?
