My sister got me on to adding ginger to smoothies… OH MY YUM! I just love the fiery, zingy sweetness ginger adds. Come to think of it, I am actually quite partial to ginger in general (my Aunty Hilda used to make a mean ginger nut / ginger biscuits). I’ve used a teaspoon here for two smoothies, but you can adjust according to your taste preference.
I also love blueberries in a smoothie! Something about the texture and sweetness – I just think they work great. They also freeze really well making blueberry smoothies an easy, anytime, on-the-go option. Some fruits that I find freeze well for your smoothie stash: grapes, berries, peeled bananas and peeled mango.
I have actually recently started keeping crushed ginger and crushed garlic in the freezer – for when I don’t have the fresh option to hand. I had problems with the tubs of crushed smelling out my fridge – voila frozen – tucked away in the freezer, problem solved – I just slice off a piece as needed!
